$150 million Federal Government donation to Stem Cells Australia

Minister for Health Mr. Greg Hunt has announced a $150 million Federal Government donation to Stem Cells Australia over the next 10 years.

Minister for Health Mr. Greg Hunt has announced a $150 million Federal Government donation to Stem Cells Australia over the next 10 years.  This is another game changer in the Australian drive towards novel treatments for inherited blindness and a vast array of genetic ailments.  This level of support from the MRFF (Medical Research Future Fund) was not anticipated and could not be more welcome as all of the projects GCA has worked on since inception are coming together here in Melbourne, in Hobart and on the US East Coast.

Minister Hunt said the following at the funding announcement at the University of Melbourne:-

‘Stem cell medicine is poised to become a core part of mainstream health care. It will transform and save the lives of people with incurable diseases.  We are ready, the science is ready, having progressed phenomenally over the past 10 years. The industry is ready, with appropriate standards in place’
